Yet Another D&D? — 3 Comments

  1. My group plays with 2nd Edition as our base for campaigning. We love building our characters with the Character Point system. Very fun way to modify characters. Other than that, DM gets to do whatever he wants. He is God… period. As long as everyone knows that, just tell a great story and you can never lose. Thanks for providing me with a quick geek moment.

  2. I haven’t seriously played since college, when we played a blend of AD&D and first edition. What made that game was the attitude (RP first, loot last) and players (fantasy game veterans blended with novice creative types).

I’d like to play with my kids someday. I’d be willing to try the new editions, but I’d also love to just let them and a small group of their friends discover the Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh …

  3. I completely understand what you’re saying here, Stefon — I’ve played the playtests and it left me sort of ‘non-plused’. Sure, there are interesting parts of it. The advantage and disadvantage dies, for example, I consider kinda innovative. But in the main, I have the same sort of “been there, done that” feelings.
